Walking to help cure type 1 diabetesPosted: Updated:
Thousands will be strolling, walking, and running Saturday morning for the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes at Tempe Town Lake.
As one of the largest family friendly events in Arizona the Walk to Cure Diabetes begins at 7:30 a.m. at Tempe Town Lake with more than 20,000 walkers expected to participate in the 5K event. It is being held to help raise awareness about type 1 diabetes that affects millions of children and adults.
JDRF is an organization that works to fund type 1 diabetes research. Go Daddy has donated more than $1 million dollars to JDRF since 2007 in their research efforts and is returning as the lead sponsor for the event for a sixth year.
Go Daddy Cares started the Round Up program where customers can round up their purchase to the next nearest dollar with the difference being donated to JDRF. So far nearly $150,000 dollars have been rounded up.
Go Daddy will also have over 400 employees and their families at the walk Saturday.
