A keen canine on the border tipped authorities off to an attempt by a Mexican national to smuggle 193 pounds of marijuana across the border on Tuesday.

Juan Guillermo Gonzalez-Marquez, 39, of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, was attempting to cross through the Dennis DeConcini Port into Arizona when a narcotic detection canine alerted authorities to the presence of drugs. This prompted Customs and Border Protection officers to put the truck through a secondary inspection where approximately $96,000 worth of marijuana was discovered under the truck's bed liner.

Gonzalez-Marquez was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations while the vehicle and drugs were processed for seizure.
