CBP seizes heroin, meth valued at $529K

SAN LUIS, AZ (CBS5) -

Two men have been arrested in separate incidents for trying to smuggle about $529,000 worth of methamphetamine and heroin into the U.S., according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Authorities said they found nearly 18 pounds of meth and more than two pounds of heroin on Thursday inside a vehicle belonging to Juan Francisco Diaz-Juarez, 21, of San Luis, Rio Colorado, Sonora, Mexico.

The drugs were inside his front bumper and he was arrested.

Officers also arrested Louis Acosta, 38, of San Luis, AZ, after the found 20 packages of meth, valued at $225,000, in his vehicle's rear tire wells.

Both men were turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcements' Homeland Security Investigations.
