New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez is speaking at a conference in Arizona next week dealing with U.S.-Mexico border issues such as trade, economic development and education.
The conference is co-hosted by Arizona State University in Tempe and the U.S. Commerce Department. It's scheduled to start Sunday and runs through next Tuesday, featuring panels of business and government leaders on topics ranging from jobs and workforce needs to tourism and energy.
Martinez is a keynote speaker at a dinner Monday night. The governor's office said Martinez will return to New Mexico the next morning.
Her appearance comes a week before governors of U.S. and Mexican border states meet in New Mexico. The Border Governors Conference will be Oct. 3-5 in Albuquerque.
