More than 1,000 miles and three years apart, a dog and its owner are reunited.
Molly, the Basset Hound, went missing from Fort Hood, TX, while her owner was on a military training mission. The dog ran away while she was gone.
Officials in Prescott Valley found the dog running loose and impounded it with local animal control. After finding an identification chip, police were able to contact the owner.
The dog was being kept by a friend of the owner when it ran away in Texas. Officials had no explanation as to how it arrived in Prescott Valley.
The owner contacted family in Tucson to retrieve the dog, and also plans on driving to Tucson once she is done with her current military assignment.
For more information on chips for pets, contact your veterinarian, The Humane Society or any animal control professionals.
