PHOENIX (CBS5/CBS) -

It isn't what parents want to hear but sexting is a reality.

According to new research, one-fourth of teens admitted to having sent a text, with a nude photo of themselves.

The study found teens who sent naked pictures were more likely to have sex compared with those who didn't take part in sexting.

Researchers say they hope this study prompts parents to have honest discussions with their kids.

The research indicates teen girls who engage in sexting, tend to indulge in other risky behaviors.
