Second trial begins for truck driver accused of killing motorcyclists

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The second trial started Monday morning for the dump truck driver who reportedly plowed into a group of motorcyclists, killing four of them.

Lawyers gave opening statements to the jury in the trial of Michael Jakscht. Tests that were taken after the deadly crash allegedly showed Jakscht had methamphetamine in his system when he slammed into the group while they were stopped at a red light.

Jakscht's first trial ended in a mistrial last year. The jury at the time could not decide whether to convict him of manslaughter or endangerment.
