Arpaio asks for Obama's Selective Service formPosted: Updated:
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has sent a letter to the Director of the U.S. Selective Service System in Virginia asking the agency to investigate President Barack Obama's registration form from 1980.
After a six-month investigation, on March 1, 2012, Arpaio released preliminary findings that Obama's birth certificate and Selective Service registration form may have been forged.
The volunteers who make up Arpaio's investigate team cite the registration form's inconsistencies and incomplete date stamp. It was allegedly filled out in Honolulu, HI, in 1980 and enlisted Obama as potentially subject to military conscription.
Arpaio's letter also requested that Director Lawrence Romo hand over the original registration form for forensic document examiners to authenticate it. Arpaio asked Romo to respond with the document and state if his agency will move forward with an investigation within 30 days.
Romo was appointed as director to the U.S. Selective Service System in 2009 by Obama and reports directly to the President.
Arpaio says he foresees the need to ask for the assistance of other agencies to determine whether the president's birth certificate and Selective Service registration form are forgeries.
