Wayne Newton discovered playing music on several local TV shows in Phoenix while he and his brother, Jerry, were still in high school. Then magic happened one week before the end of his junior year at North High School when a talent agent saw a local broadcast.
Newton told CBS 5, "He contacted my parents and he wanted to take them to Las Vegas and wanted them to audition for one of the hotels, so we jumped on a Greyhound and went to Las Vegas."
