Shapiros memorial today in Orpheum TheaterPosted: Updated:
Family and friends of a Paradise Valley couple found tied up and burned beyond recognition will remember the couple at a memorial service in downtown Phoenix on Tuesday.
The memorial service for Lawrence and Glenna Shapiro is at the historic Orpheum Theater, the site of many Phoenix operas, symphonies and concerts.
The Shapiros were major supporters of the arts and philanthropists who started their own nonprofit in 2010. They were in their 70s.
Coroners had to use dental records to identify their bodies after they were found tied up and burned in their posh home on Jan. 30.
Paradise Valley police have refused to release details of their investigation, saying only that progress has been made. Police announced Tuesday they will hold a news conference at 3:30 p.m. with the latest information regarding the homicide case. (Watch live streaming video of the news conference on cbs5az.com.)
The Shapiros are survived by three grown children and four grandchildren.
