The Maricopa County Medical Examiner has now positively identified Lawrence and Glenna Shapiro as the couple found bound and burned after their Paradise Valley home went up in flames.

Dr. Shapiro and his wife were fixtures in valley philanthropic circles. Police have been unusually tight-lipped about the murder investigation.

"It looks to me like the Shapiros were targeted. Someone had to actually locate them, see where they live and find them and the commit the crime," said Paul Huebl, a private investigator and former police officer.

Huebl blogged about the case. He believes police may have a person of interest.

"Number one, they've shut down communications with the media. Number two is that they called in two specific agencies," said Huebl.

A Paradise Valley police commander said the agency had contacted the U. S. Marshals and the U.S. Secret Service.

"The secret service is probably the foremost credit card experts anywhere, and to bring them in it's because you really believe there's something going on with their credit cards," said Huebl.  "The other agency that's kind of curious is the U.S. Marshals Service. They might be under the belief whoever involved may be a federal fugitive."

Number calls by CBS 5 News to the Paradise Valley Police Department Thursday went unreturned.
