Prescott Valley man falls victim to identity theft

A woman accused of using a forged Social Security card is being held without bond.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office says last year a Prescott Valley man reported someone using his Social Security number for payroll purposes.

Detectives learned that 29-year-old Perla Torrez had allegedly submitted the victim's SSN at the Queen Creek car wash where she was working.

On Jan. 17, Torrez was arrested on one count of identity theft.

She admitted buying the forged card several years ago in Phoenix.

Torrez is on an immigration hold.
