Phoenix mayor tours Childhelp facility

Posted: Updated:

The new mayor of Phoenix is joining a former attorney general to find ways to fight child abuse in Arizona.

Mayor Greg Stanton and Terry Goddard toured the Childhelp Advocacy Center today.

That's where Phoenix police and child advocates team-up to help investigate child abuse in a safe and child-friendly environment.

"I see professionals, the best at what they do, providing services to our most precious resources, which is our children. Of course, in this case, children who have been treated in ways that we don't like to talk about," said Stanton.

At the facility investigators can interview, medically examine, provide and refer treatment for abused children while at the same time pursuing prosecution of suspected offenders.
