Jurors will resume deliberations Thursday in the trial of a man accused of killing nine people in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Warren Granville explained the verdict forms and instructions with jury members before they began deliberating Wednesday.
Defense attorneys for Mark Goudeau made their closing arguments in the four-month trial Tuesday, followed by a rebuttal from prosecutors.
The 47-year-old former construction worker has pleaded not guilty to nine killings in the Phoenix area and dozens of other crimes in 2005 and 2006.
Goudeau is facing 72 counts in all including kidnapping, rape and child molestation.
If jurors find Goudeau guilty of any one of the nine murders, he could face the death penalty.
