Sunday's 19th annual Komen Phoenix Race for the Cure cast the spotlight on breast cancer awareness.

This year's theme was "Step Up and Deliver Our Promise." The Komen Phoenix Affiliate reminded participants to remain committed to ending breast cancer throughout central and northern Arizona year round.

Organizers were braced for as many as 30,000 participants to run or walk the one mile or 5K route that started at 17th Ave. and Adams and ended east of 17th Ave. and Jefferson.

People who couldn't make it to the event can donate online at the Susan G. Komen for the Cure website.
