The trial of a man accused of killing nine people in the Phoenix area Baseline Killings is on hold this week because of scheduling issues. Forty-six-year-old Mark Goudeau is charged with nine killings in the so-called Baseline Killer case. The trial began last month and is expected to take nine months. Goudeau has pleaded not guilty.
A spokesman for the prosecution says the trial was on break last week and this week because of unrelated scheduling issues and will start again Monday.
So far the trial has focused on the first victims in the case, including Georgia Thompson, a 19-year-old woman who was fatally shot in the head in 2005.
Goudeau is serving a 438-year prison sentence in the 2005 rapes of two sisters in south Phoenix.
