Arpaio to be deposed in lawsuit
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is scheduled Monday to be deposed for a second time in a lawsuit that accuses his office of racially profiling Hispanics in immigration patrols.
The federal judge is letting plaintiffs' lawyers depose Arpaio again to question him about the sheriff's 800-page immigration file that wasn't handed over before his first deposition in mid-December.
The lawsuit alleges that deputies had no probable cause to pull over Hispanics in traffic stops that were aimed at inquiring about their immigration status.
Arpaio denies the allegations and said people pulled over in the patrols were approached because deputies had probable cause to believe they had committed crimes.
