GLENDALE, Ariz. – With new owners in place and their future more secure than it has been in years, the Phoenix Coyotes are ready to take to the ice at Jobing.com Arena for their home opener.
Game time is 7 p.m.
The team’s entire new ownership group and NHL Commissioner Gary Betmman will be in attendance as Phoenix hosts the New York Rangers in the first game of the season for both teams.
“People are looking at us and they’re saying ‘OK, you guys came in and you had big hopes and dreams of what you think hockey can do in the desert – show us that this can be successful,’” Team President and CEO Anthony LeBlanc said. “The onus is on us but we feel we’ll get there.”
While there are still tickets available, a sellout crowd is expected.
With the team’s new ownership come some new things that fans need to know about.
The biggest one is related to parking at Jobing.com Arena. It’s no longer free.
Fans are encouraged to purchase their parking permits ahead of time. That can be done through Ticketmaster or by calling 480-563-PUCK (7825). Pre-purchased permits guarantee a space up to 30 minutes after the game starts and is generally cheaper than paying on game day.
Pre-purchased Coyotes parking permit prices range from $10 to $20 for self-parking. Day of event parking prices for Coyotes games range from $10 to $25 for self-parking and $30 for valet/limo/bus parking.
Another new thing this season is tailgating for weekend home games. The first tailgate opportunity is Oct. 19, when the Coyotes take on the Detroit Red Wings.
The Coyotes are going into the regular season with a preseason record of 4-2-1.
Phoenix has posted a 16-13-4-0 record in season openers with a 21-9-2-1 mark in home openers.
