PHOENIX -- The Xavier College Preparatory spirit line brought home state titles in all three categories in which the girls competed last weekend, which means they'll be competing on the national scene in two short months.
The girls took on the competition and came out on top in show cheer, pom and five-girl stunt
"It's incredible that we won in all three categories," head coach Monica Gaspar told 3TV's Jill Galus Wednesday morning. "We've never been able to do that in the same year. that was really exciting for us."
Gaspar, herself a Xavier alum, explained that being part of champion spirit line is a big commitment all year long, not just when school is in session. Not only do they practice every day before school, but many of the girls also take additional tumbling and dance classes.
"It's exciting when they're finally able to win something to show for all their hard work," she said.
The United Spirit Association National Championship takes place in Anaheim, Calif. at the end of March.
"That's our next goal ... try to win again in March," Gaspar said.
Congratulations, Gators, and good luck at nationals!
