CHANDLER, Ariz. – Hamilton’s Senior Cornerback Cole Luke has committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
“I’m pretty excited.” Luke stated, “I can’t wait to get on the field, work with the guys and make the team. I can’t wait.”
Luke’s commitment to the Irish came as a bit of a surprise to some. Luke was attending the Notre Dame vs. Oklahoma game on October 27th as a guest of the Sooners. However, the final score influenced where Luke would play his collegiate career.
“Just the OU Notre Dame game that I was present at.” Luke responded when asked what was the final determination for his commitment. “That topped it off. Academic wise (Notre Dame) is a great school and I talked to my family, talked to my Uncle and my mom and came down with the decision.”
Luke is listed at 6’0, 165 lbs., and is rated as a 4-star prospect by Scout, Rivals and ESPN. The Cornerback chose Notre Dame over Texas and Oklahoma.
“I think (Notre Dame) is having a great season.” Luke said. “I would say about 50 percent of it is coming from Coach Kelly. He’s a dependable coach and I am pretty sure he is going to be there for a while.”
Luke’s current Head Coach Steve Belles, who was member of the 1988 Notre Dame national championship team, couldn’t be happier for Luke’s selection.
“It’s a fit for him because it’s his commitment,” said Belles. “It’s a little ways from home but I think it’s a great place and he will fit in well there.”
