GLENDALE -- Cardinals Assistant Coach Russ Grimm was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Saturday.

He's part of the seven-man Class of 2010, which includes Jerry Rice and former Cardinal Emmitt Smith, the NFL's all-time leaders in rushing and receiving yards.

Grimm, 50, played on the Redskins offensive line from 1981 through 1991. A four-time Pro Bowler, three-time First Team All Pro and a three-time Super Bowl champion, Grimm is considered by many to be one of the best offensive linemen to ever play the game.

John Randle, Rickey Jackson, Floyd Little and Dick LeBeau were also elected to the Class of 2010.

The seven men were chosen from 17 finalists by a 44-member selection committee at the Super Bowl in Miami. The committee is made up of one media representative from each NFL city (two from New York, which has two NFL teams), one representative of the Pro Football Writers of America and 11 at-large delegates.

A candidate must be approved by at least 80 percent of the committee to be elected to the Hall of Fame.

A player has to have been retired for a minimum of five years before he can be eligible for inclusion in the Hall of Fame. This was the first year of eligibility for both Rice and Smith. Grimm, however, has been on the list of finalists before.

The induction ceremony for the Class of 2010 will take place on Aug. 7 in Canton, Ohio.
