TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Cardinals defense has a split personality — terrific against the run, terrible against the pass.

Five weeks into the season, Arizona leads the NFL in run defense, ahead of traditional powers Baltimore, Tennessee and Pittsburgh. Against the pass, though, the Cardinals are at the very bottom, 32nd out of 32 teams.

The Cardinals have allowed 71 yards per game on the ground, and a whopping 303 per game through the air.

As often happens with statistics, especially this early in the season, the figures are skewed by circumstance.
