TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- The University of Arizona has hired Rod Smith as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach and appointed Mike Parrish as director of football operations.
Smith played quarterback under new Wildcats head coach Rich Rodriguez at Glenville State from 1993 to 1996 and worked for him at West Virginia and Michigan.
Parish served as Rodriguez' director of operations at Michigan in 2010 and was an operations assistant in Ann Arbor for the first two years of Rodriguez' tenure.
He will be the Arizona staff's liaison to academic support staff, the university's admissions office for enrollment issues and the athletic department's compliance office.
Parish also will serve in directing team travel, the football calendar, recruiting processes and other day-to-day activities for the staff.
