UNDATED (AP) -- The University of Arizona softball team dropped the first game of its best-of-three super regional at Stanford, losing 6-4 to the Cardinal last night.
That means the 44-15 Wildcats must win two games today against 48-9 Stanford to advance to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
Meanwhile, defending national champion Arizona State hosts North Dakota State tonight in the opener of a best-of-three series.
The Sun Devils stand 44-17 and are coming off a win last weekend in the Tempe Regionals, beating LSU twice in one day to reach the Super Regionals.
The Bison are 38-18 and qualified for the NCAA tournament in their first year of Division I eligibility. They upset seventh-ranked Oklahoma in their first regional game last week and won two more to advance to Tempe.
