PHOENIX -- Steve Nash is going to remain in the NBA’s Pacific Division, but he won’t be playing for the Phoenix Suns.
The two-time NBA MVP is heading to Los Angeles as part of a sign and trade between the Lakers and the Suns.
According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, Nash will receive a three-year contract worth more than $25 million. The Suns will receive multiple draft picks in the deal.
Nash, who was an unrestricted free agent, was also receiving interest from the Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks among others.
Nash was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in 1996. He was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in 1998, but returned to Phoenix in 2004 as a free agent.
Since returning to the Suns, Nash has won two MVP Awards and led the team to the Western Conference Finals three times.
