PHOENIX -- Arizona Diamondbacks broadcaster Mark Grace has requested a leave of absence from the organization following his arrest for DUI Thursday night in Scottsdale.

According to the Scottsdale Police Department, at approximately 9 p.m. an officer stopped Grace near 7200 E. McCormick Parkway for having an expired registration plate on his vehicle.

After speaking to Grace, 48, and administering standard field sobriety tests, probable cause was developed to arrest him for DUI, according to police spokesman Sgt. Mark Clark.

Clark said Grace was driving his vehicle without a required interlock device and his license was suspended for a prior DUI in Scottsdale on May 30, 2011.

He submitted to a blood draw and was released pending complaint filing for aggravated DUI and other related charges.

In a news release Friday, the D-backs organization said Grace "has requested an indefinite leave of absence to seek personal assistance. Due to the nature of Grace’s request, the team will have no further comment on the matter at this time."

The organization said retired D-backs outfielder Luis Gonzalez will serve as the analyst on the Fox Sports Arizona broadcast Friday night and Saturday while Joe Garagiola will fill his usual role on Sunday's telecast.

Earlier this year, the D-backs suspended play-by-play announcer Daron Sutton. He was Grace's partner in the broadcast booth. Few details were released about that matter.
