PHOENIX -- Sunday was a big day for many kids who showed off their soccer skills at Reach 11 Sports Complex in hopes of landing a professional contract.

“Something about soccer brings me joy, just from playing and running. It just brings my attention to the fullest,” said Danny Polanco, who knew he was being watched by several professional scouts. “I'm just blessed to be here, and I just feel really excited to show what I'm capable of.”

For the past 10 years, Alianza de Futbol Hispano has hosted these all-ages tournaments across the United States, giving kids a chance to follow their dreams of playing professional soccer.

“It's an amazing opportunity for them," said Darren Rankin with Alianza de Futbol Hispano. "They get to show off their skills. But because it's free, they don't have to prep, they don't have to pay, they just come here and give it their all. Their families come to support them, and they do it in front of professional scouts which is very, very unique."

Seven kids this year will be offered contracts to play in the top division of Mexican professional soccer.

“It's the best of the best in Mexico, and we're giving the kids a shot to play and show their best,” Rankin said.
