GILBERT, Ariz. -- An Arizona Cardinals corner is in the kids' corner.

“I’m out here to support the kids,” Jamell Fleming said. “We’re just trying to get the kids to play 60 minutes a day.”

Fleming made an appearance Tuesday at Greenfield Junior High in Gilbert at a Gatorade Junior  Training Camp for students. Gatorade Junior Training Camps are in conjunction with the NFL’s “Play 60” campaign to help children receive 60 minutes of daily physical activity.

“When I was little I always wanted to see an NFL player come out and talk to us," Fleming said. “It’s really humbling being able to do this for the kids.”

Tuesday’s camp included 150 special-needs students from Gilbert.

“When I found that out I thought that's just awesome,” Fleming said. “They have issues that they need to overcome and it’s great to be out here to support the kids."

The camp consisted of running and other football and non-football-related physical activity, including learning skills such as passing and catching at a five-station interactive play area.

“It’s really important,” Fleming said. “It’s so important to exercise and this really promotes good heath.”

Fleming is beginning his second season with the Cardinals. He hopes to compete for a starting job at cornerback.
