GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Phoenix Coyotes have acquired left wing Wojtek Wolski (VOY'-teck VOHL'-skee) from the Colorado Avalanche for forwards Peter Mueller and Kevin Porter. The Boston Bruins also traded defenseman Derek Morris to the Coyotes, who acquired 40-year-old defenseman Mathieu Schneider from the Vancouver Canucks after three trades yesterday.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Justin Upton has signed a $51.25 million, six-year deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the second-largest in franchise history. The 22-year-old outfielder will get a $1.25 million signing bonus, half on April 15 and the rest on July 15. He'll receive salaries of $500,000 this year, $4.25 million in 2011, $6.75 million in 2012, $9.75 million in 2013, $14.25 million in 2014 and $14.5 million in 2015. The only Diamondbacks deal that was larger was Randy Johnson's in 1999.

PHOENIX (AP) — Four teams opposed to a funding plan for a new Chicago Cubs spring-training stadium skipped a kickoff event Tuesday hosted by Mesa. The Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds oppose a spring-training ticket surcharge to build a new Cubs complex and finance other improvements. Republican state Rep. John McComish of Phoenix wants to add a $1 surcharge to car rentals in Maricopa County and an 8 percent surcharge to all spring-training tickets.

PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) — Winning the National League Cy Young Award in back-to-back seasons can put a pitcher at an entirely new level in terms of recognition by the fans and respect from opponents. San Francisco Giants right-hander Tim Lincecum (LINZ'-ih-kuhm) experienced both after his spring debut against the Seattle Mariners yesterday. The 25-year-old Lincecum had a not-so-Cy outing, giving up three runs -- two earned -- on two hits while throwing 33 pitches in one inning.
