Amare Stoudemire had 30 points and 14 rebounds for the Suns, whose five-game road winning streak was snapped. Phoenix was held to less than 100 points for the seventh time this season.
PHOENIX (AP) — The probability of Amare Stoudemire staying put with the Phoenix Suns may have increased now that the Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired Antawn Jamison from the Washington Wizards in a three-team trade. Stoudemire said before last night's game that he thought his chances of being traded before today's 1 p.m. MST deadline were 50-50.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Edmonton Oilers goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin (NIHK'-oh-ly ha-bee-BOO'-lihn) is facing DUI and speeding charges in Arizona. Scottsdale police say an officer pulled over Khabibulin's Ferrari shortly after midnight on Feb. 8 after the car was clocked at 70 mph in a 45 mph zone. The 37-year-old played for the Phoenix Coyotes from 1996-99 and still has a home in Paradise Valley. He hasn't played since Nov. 16 due to a herniated disk in his back that required surgery.
MARANA, Ariz. (AP) — Ross McGowan of England rolled in a 30-foot par putt on the 19th hole to beat Steve Stricker, only the second time in the Match Play Championship that the No. 1 seed was beaten in the opening round. The tourament got under way yesterday at Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Dove Mountain, just north of Tucson.
