PHOENIX (AP) — Daniel Hudson pitched seven effective innings and the Arizona Diamondbacks snapped the San Francisco Giants' four-game winning streak with a 3-1 win last night. TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Center Lyle Sendlein was once an undrafted player battling to make the roster. Now, Sendlein is one of six captains whom Arizona Cardinals players have elected for the season. Australian punter Ben Graham is another. Sendlein was undrafted out of Texas in 2007. He joins wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald as captains of the offense. Tackle Darnell Dockett and safety Adrian Wilson, were selected captains of the defense.
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Larry Fitzgerald is back in practice at full speed and will provide new quarterback Derek Anderson a welcome big-play target when the Arizona Cardinals open their season this Sunday in St. Louis. Fitzgerald sat out the final three preseason games after spraining his right knee on a nasty hit from Houston's Eugene Wilson. The injury occurred as Fitzgerald caught a pass over the middle in Arizona's preseason opener.
HOUSTON (AP) — Matt Leinart is getting the fresh start he needed with the Houston Texans. The former Arizona quarterback practiced with the Texans for the first time yesterday after the 2004 Heisman Trophy signed a one-year deal Monday with Houston. Leinart's four disappointing seasons with the Cardinals culminated in his release over the weekend. He'll be the third-string quarterback when the Texans open their season Sunday.
