If so, there’s good reason. Phoenix and Arizona lead the nation in red-light running crashes and fatalities, according to the most recent data available. Why? We lead busy lives. We have places to go, deadlines to meet. We’re rushed. We’re distracted. As a result, we’re not always looking out for each other.
And while we often think of certain intersections as being dangerous, we should think otherwise, according to City of Phoenix traffic engineer Kerry Wilcoxon. “There are no dangerous intersections,” he says. “There are only dangerous drivers.”
Stop Red-Light Running
You can help prevent red-light collisions by participating in the I Stop on Red program, a public-safety initiative of John C. Lincoln Health Network. By spreading the message of red-light safety, you can have a role in saving lives—in Greater Phoenix and beyond.
About the I Stop on Red Campaign
John C. Lincoln Health Network is a nationally recognized not-for-profit health and human service organization that provides innovative care to more than 100,000 patients each year. To spread the word about I Stop on Red, John C. Lincoln has teamed up with Channel 3 News, azfamily.com and the Red Means Stop Coalition. Together, we want everyone to stop at red—and not race through yellow.
