TEMPE – About 1,000 dead fish are reportedly causing a stink after turning up at Tempe Town Lake.
The sight and stench left many people scratching their heads and plugging their noses. A consequence of the recent storms in the Valley that had members of the Aquatic Consulting and Testing firm with their fishnets scooping up fish and bagging them for disposal. More than 1,000 fairly good-sized fish were flushed over the dam into a low-lying area during the rain storm.
There was nothing to protect the fish. In fact, it was a depletion of oxygen that occured as a result of so many fish in such a limited area.
