PHOENIX - A nine-year-old boy is lucky to be alive after he was viciously attacked by a pit bull.
The little boy suffered some serious injuries during the attack, especially to his left arm. The victim's brother risked his own life to save his little brother.
Jaysen Leynard is one tough little boy. The attack happened at his great-grandmothers house last Saturday. The fourth grader says he was in the backyard when he accidentally tripped and fell next to Henessys' puppies and the dog jumped on him.
It is something big bother Stephan says he will never forget. Minutes felt like an eternity but the 14-year-old and his cousin were finally able to get the dog off.
Little Jaysen spent several hours in the hospital but is expected to be okay. The family surrendered the dog to Animal Care and Control. The agency says Hennesy is on a 10-day quarantine hold to check for rabies.
The siblings say this experience has brought them closer together. Animal Care and Control will decide what to do with the dog involved in the attack.
