Two Valley cities rated among best in U.S. to raise your kids

PHOENIX -- There are many things to consider when you're looking for a good neighborhood to raise kids. Well, two cities right here in the Valley were voted among the best in the country in which to raise your children.

The City of Scottsdale wins top honors! According to mylife.com. The city offers great parks, good schools, and  ranked first in average family income. The city came in first in average family income. At more than $136K annually, it certainly helps to afford the cost of living.

Also ranking in the top five in the nation? Chandler, which ranked number 4.  The city offers plenty of tech and manufacturing jobs so famiiles can live well. The city also ranked 14th in crime rate and 15th in average income.

The most important criteria were a city's crime rate, public school ranking, public parks per capita, average family income, and cost of living.

Some Scottsdale parents we spoke to say they do believe that it is the best city for the kids and families. "I do believe it's the best place to raise children," one mom told 3TV. "It's more of a hometown feel in a little city."

"It's a great environment to grow up in," one Scottsdale dad says. "Good friends, good support. Safety."
