Suspicious package found in Tempe posed no threat

TEMPE -- A bomb squad responded after a suspicious package was found in the parking lot of the Fry's at McClintock Drive and Guadalupe Road at approximately 8 a.m. Friday.

Tempe police officers evacuated area businesses as a precaution and the entrances surrounding the Fry's were blocked off.

According to the Tempe Police Department, a woman at a drive-through saw a man in a ski mask towing a suitcase. The man disappeared from sight then reappeared without the suitcase.

The suitcase was found to be empty and no threat to the public.

Local business are being notified that they can return to normal.
