Retailers hope to rebound with Black Friday deals

Retailers had a dismal 2008 shopping season -- the worst in 40 years! Trying to rebound this year, many stores opened Thursday for so-called “Jumpstart Thursday” deals.

Forty-four percent of Americans will shop this weekend, according to the National Retail Federation. Several shoppers told 3TV they’ve been holding off, waiting for these big sales.

Anticipating a slightly better, but still below-average holiday shopping season, many stores have cut back on their inventory levels this year. The question is will holiday shoppers cut back or increase their spending?
