UPDATE: Police say Michael Guzman was released from jail Monday as investigators consider what charges he should face. Officers believe he was the getaway driver.

Detectives say Kenneth Williams was the triggerman who shot and killed Estela Navarro on November 23 during a robbery attempt. He's facing murder charges.

PHOENIX – Two young men were arrested in the case of Luz “Estela” Navarro, who was shot and killed outside a Phoenix Kmart.

The suspects have been identified as 19-year-old DaWayne Kenneth Williams and 18-year-old Thomas Michael Guzman. Williams faces first-degree murder and armed robbery while Guzman faces armed robbery and felony murder.

Homicide detectives say they worked diligently on this case using information from the public. Detectives were able to identify the suspects and take them into custody on Wednesday following a couple of search warrants.

Williams was arrested without incident after a search warrant was issued at 4800 West Caldwell and Guzman was also arrested without incident after a traffic stop near the 1800 block of West Lynne Lane. Guzman was driving a 1992 Dodge pickup that was seized as evidence.

Navarro was laid to rest on Wednesday. The investigation is ongoing.
