PHOENIX -- A man was arrested early Saturday morning after he allegedly drove drunk in a stolen car and tried to run over a police officer.
According to Phoenix police, a motorcycle officer pulled over a vehicle at around 3 a.m. in the area of 19th Avenue and Indian School Road for suspicion of drunk driving.
Police said the man appeared to be “just like every other drunk driver,” until he tried to run over the officer with his vehicle.
The officer was able to avoid the car, but the man sped away.
Several officers followed the suspect to downtown Phoenix, where he eventually crashed his car into a wall.
After arresting the man, police said he was so intoxicated that he could neither speak nor walk.
Police would later learn that the vehicle the man was driving was stolen.
The suspect, who suffered minor injuries, is now facing numerous criminal charges, including aggravated assault on an officer.
