SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Out with the old, in with the new. The Scottsdale City Council has opened the door for two new entertainment venues in Old Town.
It was a unanimous vote Thursday night, approving a conditional-use permit for two new venues: "Live Wire" and "Bottled Blonde."
Construction on the two new bars is already underway. They'll be taking the place of what used to be the landmark "Axis-Radius," near Camelback and Scottsdale Roads.
After 16 years, the owners decided to close the two clubs in order to revamp and freshen up this portion of Old Scottsdale. Initially, Axis and Radius were two separate bars and clubs that were later joined together.
A couple of other things are happening in the Old Town nightlife scene. The "Salty Senorita" is moving a block north of its current location. The "Union Barrel House" is getting a whole new look. And "Hula's Modern Tiki" is replacing "Earl's Big BBQ."
