AVONDALE, Ariz. -- This weekend is one of the fastest in the Valley. The festivities are in full swing at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway.

Hundreds of thousands of fans will pack the track for the three days of racing, which included the international debut of the Mexican series on Friday and the NASCAR Nationwide race on Saturday.

Thousands more camped outside the track for the several days surrounding the races.

Nearly 7,000 camper-trailers fill the PIR parking lots to form a de facto city that begins building the Monday before racing. The little village is complete with its own grocery store, fire department and helipad.
