TUCSON, Ariz. -- Two people were arrested this week for attempting to smuggle 5 pounds of narcotics inside their undergarments.
Nogales Station Border Patrol agents working the Interstate 19 checkpoint south of Amado, Ariz., Wednesday afternoon referred a commercial shuttle for inspection. The agents said they discovered 1 pound of methamphetamines concealed in underwear worn by an 18-year-old male United States citizen.
On Thursday night, Customs and Border Protection officers from the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry in Nogales arrested a 23-year-old female United States citizen for attempting to smuggle 4 pounds of heroin concealed in her bra.
The narcotics had a total estimated value of $70,000.
Both people face possible prosecution.
