TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- An 18-year-old Tempe man is being held in lieu of $450,000 bond in the shooting of two people at a party at the defendant's apartment complex.
Charges against Daniel Cody Taylor include first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to Tempe police, Daniel crashed a party Saturday night at a unit in the complex but was asked to leave by the resident.
Police allege Daniel returned early Sunday morning and fired into the unit's front patio, fatally wounding Jeff Ward and wounding a woman.
A prosecutor told a judge Monday during Daniel's initial court appearance that Daniel didn't know the victims and that the shooting appeared to be random.
Defense attorney Christine Whalin said she doubted the first-degree murder charge "would hold water."
