PHOENIX -- If you’re looking for a new career path, the health and technology sectors offer plenty of chances for careers high in demand and salary and short on school.

As Javier Soto reports for "Good Morning Arizona," the health care industry is hot right now, offering careers as registered nurses, dental hygienists and medical billing technicians. The pay for a  career in nursing can reach as high as $60,000, and a career in dental hygiene can reach $70,000.

A career in the health sector can be recession-proof as baby boomers grow older. Ryan Naylor of LocalWork.com said the industry is also changing as it adjusts to the Affordable Care Act, and anything inside the medical office staff is affected.

"If you feel underemployed or you need to reinvent yourself, it’s a great industry to get into," he said.

The first step is finding a specialty program at a trade school. Naylor recommends interviewing the different trade schools around the Valley to find the program with a career resources staff that can help you find a new career.

"Go find the right trade school, the right program and the right educators that’ll help network and get you into the right position," he said.

The technology sector has plenty of openings, as well. Naylor said that tech companies tell him every day they are looking for better qualified people.

There are free programs to help you learn more about technology, including free online programs.

"The best tool you can use is even Youtube, figuring out specific trends and trade secrets on social media and being able to practice that inside your own home and build your own portfolio," Naylor said. "That’s the best way to get started."
