PHOENIX -- An Iraqi immigrant accused of killing his daughter because she had become too Westernized was scheduled to appear in a Phoenix court Thursday, but a judge delayed the hearing.
Faleh Hassan Almaleki is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, but police say those will be upgraded considering his daughter's death. Almaleki reportedly is now on suicide watch.
Police say Almaleki ran down his daughter and her boyfriend's mother Oct. 20 with his Jeep. Noor Faleh Almaleki underwent spinal surgery and was in a coma until she died Monday.
The other woman, Amal Khalaf, is expected to survive.
Almaleki fled after the attack but was arrested last week when he arrived at Atlanta's airport, where he was sent from the United Kingdom after authorities denied him entrance.
Family members of the father and daughter have declined to comment.

I have been a loyal TV3 viewer for over 20 years, and I am appalled at your station's continued use of the term "honor killing" to describe the senseless premeditated murder of Faleh Hassan Almaleki at the hands of her father. In the American society whole-heartedly embraced by this beautiful young woman, honor killing is non-existent. Her family chose to leave the oppressions of their native Iraq, and one thing they chose to leave behind was the concept of "honor killing". If you are going to help seek justice for this woman, please use the proper American term for this crime-alleged premeditated murder. There is no "honor" to what has been perpetrated against Faleh. Her father may try to hide behind "honor killing" to cover for his heinous actions, but I ask you to choose to respect and honor her life by accurately describing the atrocious manner in which her life was taken.

Do not let this slime take the easy way out by commiting suicide. He would consider that an "honorable" solution as well. Ive commented before on this case. I want to see hom in jail. And I want the guarde to turn a blind eye while another inmate makes this guy his "girlfriend".Keep up the suicide watch.
