PHOENIX -- Who doesn’t love the sound and smell of crackling fireplace around the holiday season?

If you have a fireplace, it's likely you’ve longed for a way to decorate the mantel without breaking the bank.
Yes, it is possible to create your own mantle display in four easy steps -- and for less than you may realize.

We caught up with stylist Kristen Forgione, owner of The Lifestyled Company here in Phoenix.
She specializes in taking things we already have and sprucing things up simply.
In this case, Forgione shares an example of one we can all create for only $13

1. Purchase or reuse a piece of real or faux pine garland, about 6 feet long. In addition to this, find a long, colorful ornament garland to weave into the pine.

2. Take both pine garland and ornamental garland and begin at one end weaving the two pieces together.  While wrapping the pieces together, fluff each garland piece to resemble your best-looking pine tree.

3. Once wrapped together, add candy canes, bows, stocking holders or ribbon.

4. Hang above your fireplace with reusable hooks or, if you dare, a staple gun.
