CHANDLER -- A home near San Marcos Golf Course in Chandler went up in flames, sending five people to the hospital.

It happened early Monday morning at a home near Arizona Avenue and Frye Road.

When crews arrived on the scene, the home was fully engulfed in flames and a family of six was out in the front yard. Some of them were unconscious.

Police on the scene reportedly had to restrain a woman to keep her from going back into the burning home. The family had lived there for 15 years.

Five people were taken to the hospital. Two of them, a man in his 70s and a 13-year-old were badly hurt. The man suffered burns to his face. The teen suffered smoke inhalation. Most of the other family members were being treated for smoke inhalation.

According to other members of the family, everybody is expected to recover.

Chandler firefighters said this incident -- with several casualties and an active fire -- was exactly the kind of situation they train for.

Investigators are still trying to determine how the fire started.
