MESA, Ariz. -- Rare pieces of Arizona history are now on display at the Mesa Convention Center.

The Arizona Capitol Museum and ARIPEX 2014 collaborated to put on the 56th annual Stamp and Postal History Show. This year, the exhibit is honoring the 100th anniversary of the laying of the keel of the U.S.S. Arizona, which marked the beginning of the battleship's construction.

The U.S.S. Arizona sank during the bombing attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.

Artifacts on display include uniforms, menus, sewing kits, a rowing team sweater, and a loving cup from the battleship.

The star of the show, however, is the American flag recovered from the sunken vessel.

"It was on the barge that was used by the admiral because the Arizona was the flagship," said ARIPEX spokesman Michael Zolno.

The show runs through Sunday.
