Live and Learn with Linda – Kid Activities
Kids' concoctions are made with common household materials.

>> Slime
Mix together in a bowl:
1 cup Elmer's Glue
1/2 cup water
In a separate bowl mix:
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 teaspoon Borax

Add together and mix with hands to form the slime.

>> Bubbles
1 cup distilled (or soft) water
2 Tbsp. light Karo syrup
4 Tbsp. Dawn or Joy dish liquid (not Ultra- regular only)

Mix together, adding soap slowly so as not to create foam.

>> Playdough
3 cups flour
1 1/2 cups salt
6 tsp. cream of tartar
3 Tbsp. oil
3 cups water

Dissolve salt in water. Put all other ingredients into a large saucepan. Stir constantly over medium heat until a ball forms. Knead 1 to2 minutes. Store in Ziplock bag. Can be colored with food coloring, Jell-O or Kool-Aid.

>> Eco Paste
1 cup flour
3 cups water

Put one cup of water and 1 cup of flour into a saucepan. Stir with a spoon until it is smooth. Add the rest of the water and mix. Cook until boiling stirring all the time. Turn off heat. Pour into a bowl and allow to cool.

>> Silly Putty
1/2 cup Elmer's Glue
1 cup liquid starch
Food coloring

Mix all and form into a ball.

>> Kool-Aid Finger Paint
2 cups flour
2 packs unsweented Kool-Aid
1/2 cup salt
3 cups boiling water
3 Tbsp. oil

Mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients.

>> Jell-O Finger Paint
Any kind of flavored Jell-O
Hot water

Mix the Jell-O with just enough hot water, a little at a time, until mix has the consistency of finger paint. Allow to cool before play.

>>Puffy Paint
Flour
Salt
Water
Food coloring

Mix equal amounts of flour, salt and water. Add food coloring for color. Pour mixture into squeeze bottles and paint. Mixture will harden in a puffy shape.
