Does summertime's dry skin got you down?  Do you need a good waterproof mascara?  Are your lips chapped and your heels cracked?  All of these issues come with our hot temps and dry air, so I went to work trying out some beauty products that solve those bothersome summertime beauty blues.  Take a look at what I found...

*Problem:  Flaky & Cakey Lipstick

*Solution:  Try Merle Norman Lip Exfoliator ($15 at  www.merlenorman.com for local retail locations) -- This micro-dermabrasion treatment is easy to apply and prevents your favorite lip color from looking cakey.  Since 1931, Merle Norman has been a go-to and reputable beauty brand.

*Problem:  Dry face and no time to go home to redo makeup.

*Solution:  Freshen up and moisturize your face on the go with Jane Iredale Pommisst Hydration Spray ($18.50 at www.janeiredale.com).  This handy purse-sized bottle is a hydration spray that contains pomegranate extract, which is a powerful antioxidant and UV Protector.  The product will also help to conceal fine lines and pores and this handy little bottle can also be sprayed into hair to control static.  Use it also to wet makeup brushes to make liner.

*Problem:  Cracked Heels & Callous on Toes

*Solution:  Try Toe Juice!  ($8 for 1 oz bottle or $15 for 4.6 oz bottle at Walgreens) Funny name, but great product that was invented by a high school science teacher who wanted to find a good product to treat his son's dry and flaking feet.  He created DermaVine, which is a blend of plant-based extracts that enhance the skin’s natural repairing ability.  It contains willow bark, lemon peel, and Cinnamonum extracts.  After I recommended this great stuff on my Facebook page, one of my gal pals told me that she tried it on her cracked heels and that couldn't believe the results.  She told me that she used Toe Juice, following her shower, along with the Pedi Egg and that she couldn't believe the difference.  I have been using it on my feet ever since she told me that story and my feet are so much smoother this summer!  Go to www.toejuice.com to print out a dollar off coupon, too!

*Problem:  Hot Flashes, Night Sweats or A Much Needed Cool Down

*Solution:  Try Icy Cold Herbal Cool Off Towelettes (Amazon.com and CVS drug stores).  This soft cooling little wipee is infused with natural and beneficial ingredients like witch hazel, aloe vera, arnica, sea weed extracts, chamomile flower extracts, lemon peel extract, St. John's Wort Extract, flax seed, tea tree oil and more.  As I was researching this product, I found an interview with Dr. Sharon Wilks and she says that her patients going through menopause love this product because it does not contain estrogen.  So for hot flashes or to simply cool down on the golf course, try these towelettes.  I keep mine handy, especially this time of year! Get more information at www.thequickchill.com.

*Problem:  Chapped lips

*Solution and this one helps the homeless, too:  Check this all natural lip balm out that gives back to the community, too.  The company is called Just B-B Just beauty products and the purchase of these beauty products help homeless individuals to change  their lives, end their homelessness, regain financial stability, and experience success. Just one purchase of our all natural lip balm allows two homeless individuals access to all the services of the Lodestar Day Resource Center (our parent homeless resource company) for the day.  And the lip balm is made of wonderful ingredients that include organic sunflower oil, beeswax, shea butter and Vitamin E.

Buy two bottles of Just B lotion and your purchase provides one hour of management training for the company's staff, which consists of homeless people looking for work.  Just one bar of soap provides four days of public transportation for a homeless individual so that they might be able to go look for a job and continue to get to that job once they find it.   Great product and amazing company!  Order products and learn more about this company at www.justbbjust.com

*Problem:  Cleansing super sensitive skin on face without redness left behind

*Solution:  Weleda's Almond Sensitive Skin Soothing Cleansing Lotion is made with organic sweet almond oil, Vitamin E and other ingredients that are rich in essential fatty acids that are compatible with our own skin.  This line is also hypo-allergenic and fragrance-free and reduces redness while restoring moisture.  Plus the Weleda line has been around for 90 years and is a 100% natural skin and baby care line. For more information visit www.weleda.com.

*Solution:  philosophy here comes the sun age-defense golden glow self-tanner for body provides a smooth golden glow within hours of application that looks natural and is streak-free and odorless.  I really liked how my skin looked with this product.  $28 at philosophy stores, Sephora and Nordstorm's.

*Problem:  Want a sunscreen for my aging skin that isn't messy and smelly.

*Solution:  philosophy has a nice spray applicator sunscreen called here comes the sun age-defense very water resistant SPF 30 uva/uvb broad spectrum spray sunscreen.  This sunscreen features a unique extract from the date palm and it is oil-free, non-greasy and light-weight.  Sells for $26. I also just received my August issue of InStyle magazine and I noticed that the philosophy sunscreen line is recommended in this issue.

*Problem:  Super sensitive facial skin that needs a calming and cooling treatment.

*Solution:  Garden of Wisdom Chill Out Cucumber Hydrosol Serum ($19.45 at www.gardenofwisdom.com).  Cool skincare company that is all natural and is based out of Prescott, all products are made of natural and organic ingredients.  I especially like the cucumber serum because it works great on sensitive skin like mine and I had been looking for a good serum to test . This particular one pairs organic cooling cucumber with other essential ingredients and soy-based lipsomes that all helps to plump, hydrate and condition the skin.  Plus I love that this is an Arizona-based company!  That is cool!

*Problem:  Dry skin all over

*Solution:  LUSH Ro's Argan Body Conditioner is a cool alternative to lotion because this conditioner is for the body and with scoops of cocoa butter, cupuacu butter, almond oil and Argan oils, this stuff leaves your entire body moisturized.  Sells for $29.95 at LUSH store in Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall or at www.LUSHUSA.com.

And don't forget to exfoliate skin, too.  LUSH also has a Buffy Body Butter bar that exfoliates skin and moisturizes all in one.  The body bar contains shea butter with ground rice, almonds and aduki beans to exfoliate.  Plus all LUSH handmade products are made with fresh fruits and veggies, fine essential oils and safe synthetics.

*Problem:  Need a good waterproof mascara

*Solution:  Try Urban Decay Cannonball Ultra Waterproof Mascara ($20 at Sephora).  I read about this one in several recent beauty magazines, so I gave it a try and I give it a thumbs up.
